There is nothing more satisfying than turning up to your Christmas party feeling a million dollars, and good hair is the ultimate key. Of course the celebrities always look red carpet-ready and, yes, they have an army of stylists, but we've picked some of best party season celebrity styles which we think are easy enough to recreate at home.

The key to getting a good style to last is to prep the hair before styling. Add your mousse, serum, heat protecting spray, and always keep pins at the ready to pin back loose strands and tidy up wayward ends. We may be going through the recession but it doesn't mean you can't be creative, so play with these styles and add accessories and jewels where you can.

Happy partying!

Dannii Minogue
We loved Dannii's hair on this year's X Factor - every week she experiments with a new style. Here Dannii demonstrates how easy it is to have fun with a short bob. Wear it with a fringe and straight for a ‘I mean business look' on your office 'do, or sweep it back and add some waves for a more girly finish at Christmas.

Alesha Dixon
Alesha's mix of quiff and ponytail adds an edge to a traditional party season updo. We caught up with Melissa Brown celebrity head & shoulders stylist, who told us how to get the look at home.

1. Start by blow drying your hair to give it a smooth texture.
2. Take a triangle section from the front of your hair line and then lightly back comb to add height.
3. Smooth the surface of the section back and then create the quiff by pinning with two hair grips in a cross. Finish with hairspray.
4. Pull the rest of your hair back into a ponytail and if you have really long hair, drape it over one shoulder.

Leighton Meester
Gossip Girl actress Leighton Meester knows how to work a messy updo on the red carpet and the trick to this style is to tong your hair first. Brand Ambassador for Herbal Essence Ben Cooke told us how to get the look at home.

1. After washing roughly blow dry hair and brush through with a paddle brush.
2. Take 2 inch sections of hair and spray with a styling spray before tonging. Gently release the curl and pin to your head with a Kirby grip whilst it cools - this allows them to set.
3. Next release the curls (starting from the first) and gently shake them out, using your fingers to separate
4. Then take a large section of hair from the middle of your head and secure with a small hair band (this creates the volume at the back of the head and somewhere to place the grips)
5. Then simply pin and tuck erratic curled sections away from your face at the nape of your neck - allowing a few wispy sections to fall from the front of your face to soften the look.
6. Finally spray with a strong hold hairspray et voila - Red Carpet style!
Use Leighton for inspiration but finish this look off with your own preferred style depending on your hair length.
